FOUNDERS DAY REPORT

REPORT FOR FOUNDERS DAY 2017 HELD ON SUNDAY 26TH MARCH 2017 AT KING’S COLLEGE, BUDO.

1. BACKGROUND:
Kings College, Budo celebrates the day it was founded every last Sunday of March. This year it was held on 26th March at the Cricket Oval.

2. OBJECTIVE:
To celebrate 111 years since the founding of the School.

PROGRAM:
9:00 am : Arrival of Guests -Ushers
9:30 am : Tree Planting -Mrs. Zerida Kabali
10:00 am : Thanksgiving service -Rev. Enoch Kimanje
12:00 noon : Speeches

3. ROLE OF THE CLUB:
a) To mobilise Old Budonians
b) Publicise the event.

4. PREPARATORY ACTIVITIES:
a) Mobilisation through SMS, Email, Facebook and website
b) Deliver invitations to members.
c) Procurement of mementoes.
d) Contracting service providers and sales assistants.

5. EVENT ACTIVITIES:
a) Attendance of Service.
b) Sale of mementoes.
c) Event coverage.
The chief celebrant was Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, the Bishop of Namirembe.
There was a launch of Three Busts of former Headmasters of King’s College, Budo in front
of the New Office Block. These are: i) Canon L.J. Gaster ii) D.G. Herbert iii) Timothy. H.
Cobb.
The Guest of Honour was Rev. Canon Dr. John Senyonyi – an Old Budonian from Canada
house. At the end of the Holy Communion Service, there were speeches from: The
Headmaster – Mr. Patrick Bakka Male, PTA chairman – Dr. David Serukka, Chairman BOG
– Archt. Paul Kikule, President of the Old Budonians Club – Dr. Edwadi Kayondo Bagenda
and Guest of Honour – Rev. Canon Dr. John Senyonyi.
There was entertainment from Sabaganzi house with a traditional dance and violin
presentation from Budo Junior School.

The King’s College, Budo Order of Merit (OM) Awards were also given at the same event to
the following people:
a) Dr. James Tumusiime – OM
b) Mrs. Betty Waibi – OM
c) Archt. Daniel Musana – Medal of Achievement.
d) Mr. George William Semivule – OM. He also gave the Acceptance speech on behalf
of all the recipients.
The perimeter fence project was introduced at the same event. This will lead to the
construction of a perimeter wall round the entire school campus. A bay of 3metres was
costed at two million shillings and the name of the funder will be engraved on the fence.
Other projects included: Museum at the Old Office, Gaster senior wing, Mulyanti hall and the
headmaster’s house.

6. CHALLENGES:
a) Low turn up of Old Budonians.
b) Students left venue to go for visitation day before event is concluded.

7. RECOMMENDATIONS:
a) Continued mobilisation of Old Budonians to attend the event.
